Legal Internships

Iowa State Capitol Reflection in Wallace State Office Building - Des Moines, IowaInterns with the Administrative Hearings Division assist administrative law judges in conducting contested case proceedings by conducting research, observing hearings, and preparing draft decisions.  Interns also assist the Division Administrator with special legal and policy research projects, including the development and review of administrative rules and legislation.

Law students interested in applying for an internship must submit a resume and cover letter to:

An emailed PDF attachment with the resume and cover letter is strongly preferred. 

Applications are considered on a rolling basis for academic-year internships.  Applications for internships in the Summer of 2018 must be submitted by January 15, 2018.  The Division is supportive of and will cooperate fully with an intern’s effort to obtain academic credit for the internship.
