DIA becomes DIAL!

On July 1, 2023, multiple programs across four agencies became part of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) as a new organizational structure for state government goes into effect. DIA is now the Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL).

Iowa Code & Administrative Rules

Here you can find links to the sections of Iowa Code and Administrative Rules specifically relevant to the Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing.

PLEASE NOTE that this page does not currently include areas that became part of the department effective July 1, 2023, as part of State government realignment.

Iowa Adminstrative Code (IAC, also referred to as "administrative rules") are the rules an agency uses to carry out Iowa Code (law).

Additional Information Regarding Rules & Waivers

Iowans interested in the administrative rules promulgated and administered by the department may access DIA's Rules Docket. The docket shows all administrative rules currently in process by the department from the time rules are noticed until their effective date.

Waiver Requests

A waiver from rules administered by the department may be granted by the director for good and sufficient reason when the need for a waiver has been established. View a sample petition for waiver.
